Breed Ban Message

To my fellow DVG members,

With the ever growing Breed Ban issues, we at Colorado Canine Club fully support those of you affected. The state of Colorado is constantly fighting drought concerns. Most of our stadiums have gone to artificial turf and no longer use grass. For reasons I will never understand, these stadiums don’t want dogs on their turf fields. This significantly limited our choices. One of two within reasonable distance of our other venues was Hinkley High School in Aurora. It is an incredible stadium and only 20 minutes form the host hotel. They have been great to work with and are giving us anything we need.

The city of Aurora has a Breed ban for its residents only. I spoke with Shirley Connelly from the city of Aurora. She was actually one of the writers of the ordinance. The ban only affects people living in the city limits. They more than welcome visitors with any breed of dog to visit; see a vet and it even says to compete in dog competitions. The same rules apply in Denver. You can fly into Denver International Airport (DIA) with no worries about what breed of dog is with you. The host hotel is in Parker Co. which has no bans. The tracking is in Elbert County which also has no bans. All of these venues are quite a distance from Denver city limits with the exception of DIA. Bottom line is the two cities that have a breed ban will not affect our competitors.

If there are any concerns or if you would like more information please call me directly. I want to make sure all of our members are comfortable and have no worries in their travels. It’s hard enough to show up and compete. I look forward to seeing you all and promise a great event.

Sincerely,

Brett Titus
